Irrigation

Irrigation is an alternative wax removal procedure available to patients who are comfortable with it. Safer and more straightforward than syringing, an irrigation solution is warmed to body temperature before a controlled flow is gently streamed into the ear.

A member of our expert audiology team will pull the external ear up and back before tilting the nozzle of the sprayer to allow a pressurised flow of water run along the roof of the ear canal, before flushing wax and debris out of its floor.

The procedure may need to be repeated a couple of times before being dried thoroughly to ensure all wax is removed successfully.

All medical procedures have benefits, risks and possibly side effects. Please consult with your Audiologists for further information.
