Visual Response Audiometry

Visual response audiometry is a behavioural test used by our expert audiology team to indicate the status of your younger child’s hearing by reinforcing a reaction with a visual reward.

During the assessment, you will be allowed to accompany your child into one of our state-of-the-art sound booths, where light-up toys such as puppets will be used as visual stimuli. Set in a free field environment, your child will be trained to follow sound.

Once a clear understanding has been displayed, the visual reward will be delayed briefly. Gradually, the intensity and noise level of the sounds will be reduced during the examination until the child’s minimum hearing has been reached. These results will in turn be plotted on an audiogram, enabling your hearing care specialist to analyse and advise on the best course of action.
